Handies Peak Campout/Hike

Join us for an exciting adventure climbing a fourteener! We will drive to Lake City on Friday July 22 and camp at the Silver Creek/Grizzly Gulch trailhead (elevation 10,400 feet). Saturday morning we will get up before daylight, eat breakfast and then drive to the American Basin four wheel drive parking area (elevation 11,300 feet). Then it is off to the summit of Handies Peak (elevation 14,048 feet). Bring your own food and water for camping and hiking, and be prepared for cooler temps and possible rain. Wear comfortable hiking boots, clothes and hat, and protection from the sun. Please attend the pre-trip meeting Monday July 18 at the Christ Center at the corner of 12th and Bookcliff at 7:00 pm.
