Marvine Lake backpack & fishing trip is for men and young men. We will leave Thursday the 7th from Four Winds Coffee & Tea after the WAHM breakfast meeting. As an option, you may also meet us at the Marvine Creek Trailhead on the White River at noon on the 7th.
On our way we will stop at a grocery and sporting goods store in Meeker for any last minute items.
We will be packing in aprox. 6 miles and be camping at the outlet of the lower lake. This usually takes aprox. 4.5 hours from trailhead to camp.
Bring plenty of food (better too much than not enough) since we're burning plenty of calories.
No pets, but do bring a large trash bag to cover you pack in case of rain going in, and to use to pack your garbage out.
Here is a list of things outside the Warrior List that I like to bring along also: Mountain House freeze dried food (1/day min), Trail Mix, jerky, Power Bars, aluminum foil, butter & spices, & some veggies for frying the fish.
Sleeping bags should be rated for 30 degrees minimum, and 20 degrees would be better. We have had snow once on our way in, in the last 5 years.
For those needing equipment & supplies, contact Cabela's, Sportsmen's Warehouse, or REI (REI rents quality gear).
Fishing is good for spinning and fly fishing, and we usually keep and eat a few for dinner. The best spinning lures have been Super Duper (brass and copper) and the best flies are Wooly Buggers in olive, black, & brown. Nymphs are always good in the creek.
We will break camp around 9:00am to return on Sunday the 10th, and eat at the Meeker Pazza Hut around 1:00pm on the way back.
