Green River Fly Fishing

This is a fly fishing float trip for the beginner to expert fisherman. Men of WAHM will experience 17 miles of guided fishing on one of America's most famous trout streams.

We will leave April 17, 2014 around 2:30 pm and drive to Dutch John, Utah where we will arrive around  6:00 pm at Flaming Gorge Resort (www.flaminggorgeresort.com ) for a great dinner.

The next morning you will need to have eaten breakfast by 7:45 am so we can keep the day moving. We will meet our guides around 8:00 am and launch the drift boats around  8:45 am.

Day one we will fish "B" section approximately 9.6 miles of drifting. We will be catching Rainbow and Brown Trout averaging 14-16" with some going well over 20".

Day two we will float "A" Section which is around 7.2 miles just below Flaming Gorge Dam. We will return to GJ around 5 and will be home around 8pm.

I have fished this river in March/April several times over the last 15 years. We have had great success this time of year using streamers, nymphs and dry fly fishing techniques. This is one time of year it is possible to learn and use all three types of fishing techniques in one day, of course this all depends on the weather. Drift boats, fly fishing rods(4-6 weight if you have your own), and tackle will be provided by our guides, along with lunch on the river.  You will need to dress for temperature's that range from 20-60 degrees. Waders are recommended however not necessary, they do tend to keep you warmer with some good layered insulation.  Bring some comfortable sunglasses and wear them ALL day for safety.

The cost for two days of guided fly fishing with gear and lunch provided, two nights lodging will cost $380 + $40 tip to our guide's, so $420 total. You will need to arrange for your own transportation hopefully carpooling with others. You will need to purchase a nonresident fishing license 2day $24 or annual license is $70. You can eat an excellent dinner at the resort for $20- 25 each night.  You are more than welcome to bring food, store it in the fridge and fire up an outdoor grill.

Budget per man:
Two days Guided Fishing, Lunch, Lodging w/tip        $420
License                                                                          $ 32
Breakfast & Dinner (optional)                                      $ 40
Fuel                                                                               $ 25

Total                                                                             $522

This may seem like a lot of money but if you have ever considered fly fishing this is a memorable experience, The two days of professional  instruction  will help you improve your fishing ability no matter what level; beginner or expert.

If this is going to be a financial challenge I would begin setting aside $20 dollars a week. The $80 per month will hopefully offset the April out of pocket expense.
Would love to experience the Green with as many of my brothers as possible.
