Walking with God 10/25/09

There's a point that John Eldredge makes in his book that probably has become my primary standard to follow at this time. It reads: "Listening to God would be a tremendous source of guidance and relief for the leaders of churches, ministries, and businesses if they would adopt this approach (asking God his will) in their day-to-day decision making...Surrender to what you hear (from God). Think of all the foolish things that would be avoided, and all the noble things God has for us to embrace. It's an act of humility, really, by which we admit we haven't the smarts to run this thing and we need the counsel of God. In the small things as much as the big ones." The word, "humility" keeps popping up lately in my life. Proverbs 22:4 says, "Humility and fear of the LORD, bring honor, wealth, and life." God wants me to experience honor, wealth, and long life. He wants to bless me. He wants to help me. By surrendering my daily challenges to him is an act of humility. And, that OK by me. I get stressed and tired of trying to do things without him.
